In this video, we see Jimmie Durham sitting at an office-like desk and teaching about the obsidian, a stone composed of volcanic glass with very sharp edges, historically used for making sharp blades. "When one is cut by obsidian”, says Durham, “the wound does not stop bleeding because the body doesn't realize that it has been cut".
